A11, with the exception of war of the tengu, not one of those holidays were an original idea. I even have some chocolate bunnies and 4 leaf clovers in my inventory somewhere. This game has referneces to everything from the Three Stooges, to Get Smart, to The Princess Bride.
Since there are other occasions in the game where the devs have taken things from pop culture, real world holidays, and various movies and TV shows... You can't outright say kitty ears would break the world somehow.

This is pretty much the reason why this isn't a good idea. Play Secondlife or something.

why dont we solve all the problems then, why dont we just wait till gw2 and you can be charr and there are your ears, and for all those ney sayers you can have your OMFG CAT EARS TEH NOOB HENTAI PR0N NOOB victory, this is getting no where cause people still have not realized adding OPTIONAL additions to the game to make it deeper is a GOOD thing.... oh well one can always hope for GW2.

This is Guild Wars, not anime. The day this comes to fruition is the day there is nothing left of what guild wars was meant to be.
There are already plenty of kiddie, cartoon, anime themed games out there for people who get aroused by cartoon little girls. (Who are always magically endowed with D and C cups when disrobed.)
The glasses are a crippling enough of a blow.
Suddenly we now have hipster dervishes who look like gaytarded college students running around because the design of the glasses is far too modern for the MEDIEVAL FANTASTY THEME of the game.
You want to add cutesy furry hentai fantasy ears too? how about SD head//hands and Anime eyes as a face set? How about cell shading?
This is starting to sound like gaiaonline.. Yes let's all go down THAT road..

Do you have Three Stooges masks? Do you have Princess Bride Andre the Giant costumes? No.
Having vague pop culture references is ALOT DIFFERENT than having an armor piece that everyone has to look at. Quotes, names of quests, names of characters are merely words. Coding meshes and equipping cat ears...not the same thing AT ALL.
Four leaf clovers...chocolate bunnies...candy canes. So what? Four leaf clovers exist. Chocolate exists. bunnies exist. Sugar exists. Cat ears...sure they exist too but they're part of a very different ELECTRONIC culture that has been adapted to real life because of that culture's popularity. The ORIGINS of cat ears are cartoons, anime, etc. The origins of four-leaf-clovers are natural. The lore surrounding four-leaf clovers was around long before electricity. Chocolate bunnies were around long before computers. Cat ears...not the same.

Because ANet has ruled a stylist out and they don't want to delay GW2 for substantive changes to GW.

Edited, also my response to the other quote applies here. Another hat or two they can do. Making GW1 deeper is a bit beyond the scope of things we can reasonably ask for at this point.

Feline Fetish new?
Well, if you know your armor, Female Mesmers have been parading around with Cat-like Animal Masks for ages... it is a Prophecies Headgear. So there is precedence for Feline Fetish in game.
I can understand why some people do want a classless headgear type. The only problem is that they will want the tail as well! Can't have the ears without the tail: Rabbit or Cat.
GWs parodies RL as much as they can. You just have to smile whenever you see the references to pop-culture scattered throughout the game. I feel sorry for people who don't or won't laugh at those said references and take things too seriously.

how about just consumables that provoked said effects for an hour or so.
then Anet could go mental on a whole gaggle of things.

There is a vast difference between the 'animal' ballroom mask and neko ears for the fan service.

Because those same *white kids* wander around with Japanese inspired names aswell, in almost EVERY game?

I like the titles, I like the shouts, I like how Grenth stole Christmas.
I also like that, as far as online games go, Guild wars is one of the more 'realistic' detail and character design wise. Throwing in anime elements takes away from that. A lot.

using the term realistic in a fantasy game is an oxymoron.
why is it ok to have a giant candycorn dancing "Thriller" with a discoball over its head while a mini Rurick wanders about nearby?
Restricting "Anime" to things like Naruto, neko/furries, or just hentai is sheer ignorance.

You know once upon a time there was a thing called the 'Medeival' period.
You might think this is schocking at first but they used SWORDS, AXES, and BOWS AND ARROWS too! (You might even say they believed in magic and dragons!) *gasp.*

Because the candy corn is an expiring effect from an event. I suppose you're against magical effects in a fantasy game aswell?

Dont get me started on the headbands for Factions. And, 'ignorance'?

You're probably one of them. I'm sure there are enough people of asian decent just as sick of such blatant emulation of their culture. (But only ONE OR TWO aspects there of.)
'Otaku' isn't supposed to be a compliment, Nothing is *ever* 'Kawaii', and Japan called, they still don't like you and they want their fanclub membership ring back.

For starters:
1. YOU are the one putting anime into a nice little self made up box.
2. Wth does weaponry have ANYTHING to do with this suggestion.
3. Magic and dragons and necromancers etc are part of MYTHOS not REALITY.
4. YOU bring up words like "realistic" and i say "giant candycorn". what part do you not understand.
5. What about headbands. you think HEADBANDS are an anime exclusive?
6. yes you clearly are ignorant, I'll even add arrogant and rude onto that description.
7. you quote yourself....but ok you know what? you have me all wrong there friend. Ore wa Nihonjin dakara....you can go an take your half assed insult and try again.
8. I do not use anime influenced names. can you not read?
9. you don't know what otaku is else you would not include it in this conversation.
10. i simply said "why not" to this proposal. never have i said i was a fan of furry tails.
dont bother even attempting to interact further with me. you are FAR too much of an idiot to warrant my interest.

Thanks for your novel, I'm glad I still *don't* warrant your 'interest.'
The weaponry has everything to do with the medieval Era, which this fantasy game is based, try again.
Magic and Dragons are indeed part of myth, which was also very prevalent AGAIN during the Medieval period, which this game is inspired.
Giant candy corn? A temporary magical effect from a tonic, given out by a magical being and his collectors. Witches can turn people into frogs too, just not in guild wars.
The style of headbands in Factions, although also having an obvious real life historical reference, were ONLY added to Guild Wars BECAUSE they were popular from 'Naruto.' (Are we catching on slowly yet?)
I'm not gonna deny any of your observations of myself. Why yes, I am ignorant, and arrogant, and definitely rude, but you also forgot good looking.
I see you can also speak a phrase in Japanese. This doesn't prove that you yourself aren't white, or ARE Japanese, it means you can speak one phrase of Japanese. Isn't the anonymity of the internet great? (And as for the ONE character name you have listed in your forum tag, what of your other 7-however many character slots?)
I know very well what Otaku is, and I know enough not to call anyone by it in good taste due to the negative connotations it *should* still carry. (Thanks to THIS man.)
But, yeah, cheers.

No anime in this game, please. I go out of my way to avoid that art style, it's virtually a cultural plague. To each his own and all that, but lets keep GW self consistent ok?
